What is Cupping Therapy?

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation, and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage.

Modern version of cupping

A  modern version of cupping uses a rubber pump instead of fire to create a vacuum inside the cup. Sometimes therapists use silicone cups, which they can move from place to place on your skin for a massage-like effect.

How it works

As the air inside the cup is gone, it creates a vacuum. This causes your skin to rise and redden as your blood vessels expand.

  • Blood disorders such as anemia and hemophilia

Suggested aftercare recommendations 1:

  •   Drink plenty of water, to help eliminate toxins out of the body.
  •   Avoid showers, steam, sauna and exercise immediately following bodywork
  •   Light stretching and range of motion exercises are beneficial.
  •  Exercise the next day will help increase circulation to aid in fading of cup kisses.

Suggested aftercare recommendations 2:

  • should avoid exposure to cold, wet, and/or windy weather conditions, hot showers, baths, saunas, hot tubs and aggressive exercise for 4 - 6 hours. Exposure to such extremes can produce undesirable effects and should avoid such situations.

Suggested aftercare recommendations 3:

  •  should avoid caffeine, alcohol, sugary foods and drinks, dairy and processed meats and I should consume an abundance of clean water.

About first time Cupping

The first time experiencing Cupping. The body's immune system can temporarily

react to this release as it might with the flu - producing flu-like effects like nausea, headache,

aches, that will subside in time with rest and water. Water helps to dilute the intensity of the release.
